Cultural Story Telling

A tactile expression of culture. These blocks, crafted from old growth cedar hold onto our past, embody our present, and prepare us for the future. As Indigenous Peoples we have found a variety of ways to share our stories; dibaajimowin (pronounced "dee-bah-jee-moh-win"), storytelling. The goal of this piece was to take this tradition into spaces where Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people can share in cultural practice.

Copper Pipe (Type of Metal Optional)

To create a profound connection to the culture, we use real copper pipe for unit. Copper, historically significant to many Indigenous Peoples for its use in tools, ornaments, and ceremonial objects, infuses each piece with deep cultural resonance.

Cedar Blocks (Type of Wood Optional)

We use real wood, hand-carved from old-growth cedar, each block is a unique work of art. Through these blocks, we aim to provide a tangible link to the traditions and stories of Indigenous Peoples, celebrating our enduring legacy with every touch.

Ideal for educations centres, schools, libraries and exhibits

The Spinning Blocks were thoughtfully designed to offer a hands-on educational experience. Recognizing that many Indigenous communities have preserved their history through tactile items in nature, we sought to honor this legacy. By embedding history, culture, and stories into these culturally significant mediums, we aim to pay tribute to the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, ensuring their heritage is celebrated and remembered.
